What You'll Do

A research development specialist is needed to work with faculty, particularly junior faculty and department chairs, to develop proposals, provide and manage research development activities, and coordinate submission with the School's local research administrators . The individual will work closely with faculty and other stakeholders to identify funding opportunities, develop proposals, and manage the technical writing process. This position requires an understanding of research methodologies, grant development strategies, sponsor requirements, and project management skills. Duties include

  • Research and identify new federal and non-federal funding prospects to match School priorities
  • Work with faculty to generate high-quality proposal narratives and supporting documents in response to solicitations consistent with all policies and procedures of the University and the requirements and guidelines of the funding agencies
  • Maintain primary responsibility for proposal schedules
  • Meet regularly with investigators to discuss current and new funding needs
  • Inform supervisor on the progress of all proposals and issues that may arise
  • Coordinate with Local Research Administrators for budget creation and related documentation
  • Maintain confidentiality of information exposed to in the course of businessOther duties as assigned
    What We're Looking For

    Basic Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree required,
    • grant writing experience with technical/scientific focus
    • ability to work effectively under pressures
    • excellent writing and verbal communication skills
    • highly organized with the ability to implement systems and follow-up processes
    • excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
    • motivated self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively and independently Preferred Experience:
      • Masters degree
      • 3-5 years of experience as a successful grant writer
      • knowledge of grant application process, scoring criteria, and funding cycles
        Pay Range

        Minimum $57,900.00, Midpoint $72,450.00, Maximum $87,000.00



        Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
