Associate Director, Medicinal ChemistryABOUT ENSEM

Position:Ensem is searching for an -Associate Director -to join our
medicinal chemistry department. We are seeking a highly motivated
and energetic medicinal chemist with extensive experience working
on an integrated/multidisciplinary drug discovery team. -The
successful candidate will be responsible for driving medicinal
chemistry efforts in a fast-paced small molecule discovery research
team through Hit ID, Lead Generation (LG), Lead Optimization (LO),
and compound selection as a chemistry/project leader. Applicants
should have broad medicinal chemistry experience from hit ID to
development compound selection and track -record of innovation and
creative problem solving. -The individual should be an expert in
organic chemistry and possess broad scientific knowledge of
state-of-the-art principles and theories in medicinal chemistry.
The candidate should have deep -understanding of molecular
properties and DMPK concepts that lead to the discovery of
high-quality molecules. -The individual will be expected to
participate in the writing and execution of patent applications,
and interface with or lead internal cross-functional teams and
external collaborators as well as CROs.PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES -

medicinal chemistry from hit ID through clinical candidate
selection - - - - - - - -Co-lead a drug discovery project team with
a biology co-leader to drive every aspect of the project including
scientific decisions and budgetary proposals - - - - - - -
-Responsible for the success of the chemistry aspects of the drug
discovery team through individual contributions and leading an
external chemistry team - - - - - - - -Develop strong design
solutions to medicinal and synthetic chemistry challenges - - - - -
- - -Develop and ensure high quality and effective interactions
cross functionally to support and achieve project goals and
objectives - - - - - - - -Planning and effectively employing
external chemistry resources to deliver high quality compounds for
biological evaluationDESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE - - - - - -Ph.D.
in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry or related field - - - -
- - - -6-12 years industrial experience as a medicinal chemist in a
pharmaceutical or biotech company - - - - - - - -Demonstrated
success in leading chemistry and projects teams to deliver high
quality compounds into development - - - - - - - -Expert in
medicinal chemistry from hit ID to compound selection with broad
and in-depth knowledge of drug discovery and related disciplines
(i.e. ADME, DMPK, toxicology, etc) with a connection to the
laboratory. - - - - - - - -Proficient and knowledgeable in SAR,
FBDD, SBDD and other medicinal chemistry platforms, yet possesses
the intuition of a drug hunter - - - - - - - -Expert in synthetic
organic chemistry with creative imagination to design, synthesize
novel chemotypes and solve synthetic chemistry challenges - - - - -
- - -Experience in leading drug discovery projects from hit ID to
development is a must - - - - - - - -Experience understanding and
writing patent applications - - - - - - - -Excellent organization
skills as an individual contributor AND in leading or co-leading
multidisciplinary drug discovery project teams are desired - - - -
- - - -Ability to work independently and influence decision making
within cross-functional teams - - - - - - - -Organized,
results-driven, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task - - - - - -
