Please choose one of the following internships that aligns best
with your degree and professional goals North End Counseling:
Interns will provide individual psychotherapy and targeted case
management to patients with primary diagnoses including Borderline
Personality Disorder (BPD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD),
Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), Panic Disorder, Bipolar I and II
Disorders, and other specified personality and mood disorders.
Caseload size is collaboratively determined between the supervisor
and intern to ensure adequate time for learning and skill
development. Interns will have the opportunity to observe and
participate in group therapy, including Dialectical Behavior
Therapy (DBT), Anger Management, and Substance Recovery groups,
based on their interests. They will receive formal training in
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Zero Suicide practices,
along with ongoing support in the implementation of DBT, CPT, and
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). This internship is fully
office-based. Interns receive a minimum of one hour of individual
supervision weekly, in addition to approximately 2–7 hours of group
consultation each week focused on evidence-based practices. If
interested, interns may observe and eventually complete intake
assessments; however, conducting intakes is not a primary focus of
the educational experience at NEC. This department is looking for
two second year Master level interns who can fulfill 24 hours a
week and carry a case load of 4-5 clients. The supervisors’
credentials are MSW, LICSW, LCMHC ACT: With the exception of
meetings, which may be attended remotely, this position requires
consistent in-person, community-based, direct-service care. As part
of the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team, caseloads are
shared, meaning all team members may work with any patient at any
given time to ensure continuity and comprehensive support. Interns
are expected to see a minimum of five patient contacts during an
eight-hour workday. Because ACT patients often require multiple
visits per week, the number of unique patients served weekly may
vary based on clinical need. After completing required trainings
and sufficient shadowing, interns will be responsible for:
Monitoring and supporting patient adherence to prescribed,
pre-packaged medications Assisting patients with accessing and
navigating community resources, including the Department of Health
and Human Services, Social Security, medical appointments, and
essential needs such as grocery shopping Assessing patient symptoms
and providing appropriate therapeutic interventions in community
settings Participating in required trainings to strengthen and
expand clinical and therapeutic skills This internship offers
hands-on experience delivering high-intensity, team-based
behavioral health services in real-world community environments.
The department is looking for one second year master level intern
to fulfill 24 hours a week. The supervisor has a MSW and LICSW for
credentials. This internship will require a reliable vehicle, valid
driver’s license, and active automobile insurance, as this role
involves extensive community-based travel. Mileage will be
reimbursed at the current federal reimbursement rate. Cypress
Center: This internship is designed for second-year, master’s-level
students seeking advanced clinical experience in an intensive
treatment setting. Interns are assigned to work individually with
approximately 2–3 patients per day within our unit’s milieu
environment, while also facilitating evidence-based group
interventions and coordinating discharge planning to ensure
continuity of care. Interns provide both individual and group
interventions aimed at crisis stabilization, symptom reduction, and
the development of coping and relapse-prevention skills. In
addition to direct clinical services, interns collaborate closely
with a multidisciplinary team that includes medical providers,
licensed clinicians, nursing staff, and counselors to support the
successful completion of short-term treatment plans and promote
safe reintegration into the community. Responsibilities include
timely and accurate daily clinical documentation within the
electronic medical record, participation in treatment team
meetings, and coordination with outpatient providers and community
resources to support discharge planning and ongoing care. This is
an on-site internship requiring availability from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00
p.m., approximately 24 hours a week, for two to three weekdays,
depending on academic requirements and program expectations. The
experience is structured to provide meaningful clinical
responsibility while offering supervision and collaboration that
support professional growth and skill development. Supervisors have
LCMHC, LICSW for credentials. Child and Adolescent: Our Child and
Adolescent Department provides a comprehensive range of behavioral
health services to children and youth ages 2–21 across home,
community, and office-based settings. This internship offers
exposure to diverse clinical presentations and levels of care,
ranging from Family Intensive Treatment services to Level 2
outpatient, office-based teams. Second-year, master’s-level
students will provide individual, and family clinical interventions
tailored to the developmental and therapeutic needs of children and
adolescents. Interns will gain experience working with complex
cases while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams,
medical providers, schools, and other community partners to ensure
coordinated and effective care. This is a 20-hour-per-week
internship designed to offer meaningful clinical responsibility,
hands-on learning, and strong supervisory support. Depending on
program requirements, interns will be matched with appropriately
credentialed supervisors, including LCMHC, MLADC, DSW, LICSW, and
LMFT professionals. This placement is ideal for students seeking
broad exposure to child and adolescent mental health services
within a collaborative, community-based model of care.
