Local Unit & Position Description

DNV Energy System is seeking a Team Leader Global Contracting North America who will join the Global Contracting team to contribute to the success of the Contracting function.To support Energy Systems in realizing its strategic ambitions, we have a Global Contracting team with specialized contract management roles and advanced legal & contractual competence. In this team we have highly qualified legal and contracting professionals who are intensively partnering with the business to create customer success.

The Team Leader Global Contracting (TLGC) is part of the Global Contracting Leadership team, leads a team of Global Contract Managers and reports to the Head of Global Contracting. The Global Contracting function is a centrally organized risk management function, which is part of F&P and provides specialized legal advice on contracts related to the delivery of our projects and services.The TLGC acts as strategic business partner for senior regional management and will be used as an escalation level for contracts of high value and/or high risk---. In addition to leading a team of Global Contract Managers, this person stimulates collaboration within the team as well as the broader organization, is a senior legal subject matter expert and acts as primus inter pares. The TLGC will provide the formal legal review and risk analysis of customer contracts and advise the bid manager/Key Account manager as well as other levels of Energy Systems management during the decision-making process. The TLGC ensures that contracts are aligned with the strategic earning ambitions for each customer/segment as well as the overall strategy expectations for Energy Systems with regards to growth, earnings and cash flow. ---Last but not least: The TLGC serves as point of contact for legal/contracts responsible in customer organisations, ensures efficient internal collaboration and interface management. Global Contracting is part of the Finance & Performance function (F&P) and works closely with our Regions and global Business Units.

This position can be located from any of our DNV offices in the Central and Eastern Time Zones

What You'll Do

  • Leads and manages the North American Global Contracting Team, and serves as an escalation pathway
  • Actively supports global collaboration within the Global Contracting team
  • Builds and strengthens a strong internal culture based on company's values---
  • Provides advice for key-stakeholders at all levels of Energy Systems to ensure that contracts reflect an appropriate balance between risk and reward, act as business partner---
  • Assesses project risks, actively engages in the risk review process for projects, and collaborate with the business on strategies to mitigate risk---
  • Represents ES in reviewing, amending and negotiating a variety of contracts, forms or agreements with (key) customers ---
  • Delivers a competent and high-quality product, that demonstrates a customer centric approach (both towards internal and external customers), and that provides commercially focused advice and solutions---
  • Provides advice on legal and commercial contract-related matters as well as on matters pertaining to other functional responsibilities of the Global Contracting team---
  • Foster collaboration between DNV Group Legal and DNV - Energy Systems on contract interpretation and negotiation, contract process, and interactions with DNV - Energy Systems customers---
  • Advocates and ensures compliance with DNV processes, policies, guidelines and values---
  • Collaborates with senior management, other support functions and key stakeholders in the organization ---
  • Provides training on legal/ contract management issues and risks within the functional scope of the Global Contracting team---
  • Stimulates a high performing culture, sets direction, is output driven and act as a role model for an inspiring employee experience ---
  • Stimulates the "pipeline" and development of legal talent/ future needed capabilities---
  • Implements procedures needed to harmonize the day-to-day workflow Position Qualifications

    What is Required
    • Juris Doctor
    • 8-10 years of relevant work experience as a legal professional or contract manager, preferably also a number of years of experience as a line manager of a team of legal or contracting professionals
    • Experience in a leadership role interacting with international stakeholders at all levels
    • Demonstrates solid legal skills in a commercial/transactional context, including reviewing and drafting contracts and negotiating directly with external parties
    • Comfortable working as part of a global and multi-cultural team
    • Demonstrates a strong attention to detail and ability to handle complex projects
    • Possesses superior organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with shifting deadlines
    • Must have strong computer skills and knowledge of common programs such as Microsoft Office
