R&D Technical Architect

Job Description:

The Technical Architect is responsible for the creation, documentation and execution of a technical architecture reflecting given functional and non-functional business and technical requirements and constraints in a defined and limited scope (e.g. a software module or a product).Plan and design cost efficient software and/or hardware architecture (including relevant contracts, e.g. communication), ensuring it is aligned with the higher-level Architectures provided by the Solution, Enterprise and Chief ArchitectContribute to the definition of development guidelines (e.g. coding standards).Ensure the software and/or hardware meets all non-functional requirements of quality, security, modifiability, extensibility etc.Oversee the complete requirements-set for the given scope and provide technical implementation guidance to team members.Oversee the complete architecture, software design and implementation within the boundaries of the corresponding scope.Document architecture using ERT's "Views and Beyond Architecture Documentation" methodology and oversee its translation into design.Validate the implementation of the defined architecture and design by performing regular code reviews.Assist with solving technical problems during all DLC phases when they arise.Address technical concerns, ideas and suggestions raised by team members.Contribute to defining and following R&D processes and documentation practices.Understand and ensure compliance with the applicable Solution and Enterprise Architecture.Keep architectural and technical skills up-to-date and proactively remain up to date with significant changes in the industry.Mentor, educate, and train R&D staff on technical topics as requestedOn request review the architecture of other ERT products to ensure they match the Enterprise architecture, evaluating alternative design solutions to meet agreed business needs, technical standards and best practices.Ensure "security-by-design" including:Compliance with applicable data privacy and security laws and regulations.Applications and application interfaces (APIs) meet industry standards required to protect customer data and meet compliance and legal obligations.Application data security methodologies are defined for data stored locally (device), in transit (network) and persisted (database).Data processing functions are documented end-to-end per data flow.--OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:--Ensure timely compliance with training completion/documentation. Assist with developing training plans for team members (developers and testers).--Perform other duties, assignments, or special projects as time and/or circumstances necessitate.--3+ years' experience in architecting software and/or hardware solutions (or equivalent)3+ years' experience in the development of software and/or hardwareBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science (or a related field).Cloud certification desirable (e.g. AWS or Azure Architect certification)Proficient in the use of UML 2.1Experience in the use of Enterprise Architect (Sparx Systems) desirableGood software development experience utilizing Agile and DevOps, CI / CDUnderstanding of Security best practicesKnowledge of Infrastructure automationKnowledge of IaaS and Private Cloud solutionsExperience of application migration to Cloud.Understanding of data-centre infrastructure.Understanding of network communications and related technologies.Experience of Domain-Driven Design / Bounded Context AnalysisKnowledge of software engineering frameworks and methodologiesKnowledge of risk management techniques
