customers.DNV is seeking a Software Developer to join our team. The
primary function of this position is to develop Python-based
software tools that enable DNV to automate our wind and solar
energy assessment and data analytics processes quickly and
accurately using the best available technology.This position will
preferably be based in the DNV office in San Diego, CA. We will
consider other DNV renewables offices such as Medford, MA; Oakland,
CA; Portland, OR; Seattle, WA; Austin, TX or Dallas, TXWhat You'll
Do
- Writing Python code to implement solar and wind energy
assessment and operational data analytical methods
- Working with Flask apps, APIs, virtual servers, and SQL
databases to manage solar energy assessment data
- Developing user-friendly Jupyter Notebooks in collaboration
with energy analysts and other stakeholders
- Collaborating with members of the energy assessment team to set
goals and priorities for the software development team
- Reviewing Python code contributed by other software developers
to ensure that the software is accurate, well-documented,
efficient, and scalable
- Supporting the energy assessment team by providing training or
troubleshooting for data analysis tools
- Opportunity to support commercial, industrial, and/or research
data science projects as mutually agreed toPosition
QualificationsWhat is Required
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
- 5+ years of relevant experience, including at least in energy
assessment, programming, data science, or a combination
thereof
- Proven ability to develop data analysis tools using Python,
JupyterLab, and Python data science packages (e.g., NumPy and
pandas)
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- We conduct pre-employment drug and background screeningWhat is
Preferred
- Master's Degree in a relevant engineering, atmospheric science,
or quantitative field.
- Comprehensive understanding of fundamental solar modeling
principles, including familiarity with PVSyst and SAM
- Familiarity with wind energy assessment methodologies
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues, including
dependencies between Python packages, APIs, and databases
- Ability to work with stakeholders to define user requirements
and translate them into production-ready software too
- Experience in uncertainty and statistical data analysis
- Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% of the

New York City, California, and Washington, DNV provides a
reasonable compensation range for roles that may be hired in those
locations. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of
factors, including but not limited to skill set, level of
experience, and specific office location. For the state of
Colorado, New York City, NY, California, and Washington only, the
range of starting pay for this role is $115,000.00-
