knowledge.Job DescriptionOBJECTIVES/PURPOSE Looking for a highly
motivated individual who can perform in vitro laboratory
experiments primarily related to the discovery of novel
therapeutics for the advancement of treatments for rare hematologic
disorders (non-oncology) within the Rare Diseases Drug Discovery
Unit (RD DDU). - ACCOUNTABILITIES - - - - -
- Under minimal supervision, performs a wide range of assigned
research experiments with efficiency, accuracy and attention to
detail (e.g. selects methods, troubleshoots routine
procedures)
- Exercises technical judgement in execution of specialized
procedures and interpretation of -results
- Initiates routine and non-routine problem investigation and
recommends solutions
- Performs calculations and basic analysis on experimental
results and develops hypotheses
- Contributes to design of well-defined experimental
procedures
- Maintains responsibility for routine laboratory instrumentation
and supplies
- Maintains good recordsEDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND
SKILLS:
- MS in a scientific discipline (or equivalent), or BS with 2+
years relevant experience.
- The successful candidate will ideally have the following
attributes:
- Skills: Hands on experience with mammalian cell culture,
ELISAs, SDS-PAGE/Western blotting, flow cytometry, and enzymatic
activity assays. In addition, basic understanding of coagulation
assays such as clotting (aPTT/PT) and TGA/CAT are a strong
plus.
- Ability to perform experiments and data management with minimal
supervision.
- Proficiency in technical writing and presentation.
- Strong computer skills including extensive experience with
Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point - -
- Contribute specific experimental designs and test conditions
based on knowledge gained through prior hands-on experience and/or
review of relevant technical literature
