Job Description:
The YMCA of Greater Westfield is seeking a Cause-Driven Leader
to lead our School Age Child Care Program. Job Description Under
the direction of the Youth Development Director the School Age
Child Care Director oversees the operations of our licensed School
Age Child Care Program. This position develops, organizes and
implements a high-quality program that exceeds the expectations of
parents, children, EEC and the community. The School Age Child Care
Director will create a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes
and respects all individuals while inspring youth to discover their
passion. As a member of the leadership team responsibilities
include membership development, risk management, building
supervision, annual giving campaigns, staffing committees as
designated, financial development, and attending YMCA functions.

Bachelors degree in human services, social services, recreation,
business, education or equivalent field preferred. Two to three
years leadership experience. 3-5 years previous experiences
including supervisory experiences in licensed child care preferred.
Must meet all qualifications of director as outlined be the
Department of Early Education and Care. YMCA Team Leader or
Multi-team/Branch Leader certification preferred. Essential
Functions Organization, administration, program development,
promotion and daily operation of School Age Child Care. Build and
maintain strong relationships with families, community and YMCA
sites through positive proactive communication. Actively market,
develop, and promote all Child Care Programs and other assigned
programs Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs
personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff
performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve
goals. Schedule and organize staff trainings and ensure staff are
certified in required areas meeting all EEC requirements Ensures
high quality curriculum through innovative program development,
evaluations, and ongoing training of staff. Conducts a minimum of
weekly site visits of each site before and after school.
Observations of staff and children as well as building strong
relationship with school personnel. Develops and controls
department budgets related to the position. Ensure licensing
requirements are met and a risk management policy and protocol is
in place to ensure that all property and facilities meet code
requirements and are safe for participant use. Maintains proper
records/department files Responsible for hosting and development of
family programs associated with assigned programs. Develops,
implements, and manages operating plans to promote program and/or
membership growth for the YMCA. Executes strategies to ensure that
members and/or program participants connect with one another and
connect with the YMCA. Develops and maintains relationships with
EEC and other organizations and agencies related to Child Care
Programs. Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries
and complaints in a timely manner. Establishes new program
activities and expands program within the community in accordance
with strategic and operating plans. Assist as needed with YMCA
operations, building coverage, meetings and special events. Achieve
retention goals, as well as growth goals, for income and special
events. Provides leadership and support to the annual fundraising
campaign and volunteer committees/boards as assigned. Assist in
special events. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships
with community organizations. Models relationship-building skills
(including Listen First) in all interactions. Responds to all
member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
Performs other duties as assigned by the CEO. Cause-Driven

Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills required to
perform well; uses best practices and demonstrates up-to-date
knowledge and skills in technology. Required Certifications
Requirements within 30 days of hire include: completion of: Child
Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; CPR; First Aid; AED; Blood
borne Pathogens.
